SUBWAY MARKETPLACE Athlete of the Week for April 27-May 3

Nick Schuster (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria HS) is the LCCC SUBWAY MARKETPLACE Athlete of the Week for the week of May 4–10, 2025. Schuster earned the honor after a gritty, standout performance on the mound in the opening round of the NJCAA Region 12 DIII Tournament against top-seeded Terra State Community College. The freshman left-hander threw a complete game, going 8 innings, striking out 5 batters, and allowing only three earned runs in a tightly contested 4-2 loss.

SUBWAY MARKETPLACE Athlete of the Week for April 27-May 3

Joey Kulwicki (Grafton, Ohio/Midview HS) is the LCCC SUBWAY MARKETPLACE Athlete of the Week for the week of April 27–May 3, 2025. Kulwicki turned in solid performances at the plate and on the mound in the Commodores’ win over the Schoolcraft College Ocelots on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. He went 4.0 innings with three strikeouts, helping keep the Ocelots at bay. He picked up his second win of the season. At the plate in the doubleheader against Schoolcraft, he went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a walk.

SUBWAY MARKETPLACE Athlete of the Week for April 20-26

Luke Decker (Elyria, Ohio/Midview HS) is the Lorain County Community College SUBWAY MARKETPLACE Athlete of the Week for the week of April 20-26, 2025. Decker put together an outstanding week at the plate, helping the Commodores to several key victories. Over four games, he went 9-for-19 (.474 average) with six runs scored, one home run, seven RBIs, and two stolen bases.

Colby Cabrera (Amherst, Ohio/Mario L. Steele HS) is the Lorain County Community College SUBWAY MARKETPLACE Athlete of the Week for the week of April 13-19, 2025. Cabrera, representing LCCC in the Tier 2 Super Smash Bros. Ultimate playoffs, showcased resilience and determination throughout the postseason. Entering the playoffs as the No. 2 seed, he opened with a hard-fought five-round win over Bates Technical College. After a second-round loss to Marshalltown Community College, he rebounded in the elimination bracket with a key victory over another Marshalltown player, winning the match in four rounds after jumping ahead early.

Robert Rogers (Lorain, Ohio/Clearview HS) is the Lorain County Community College SUBWAY MARKETPLACE Athlete of the Week for the week of April 6-12, 2025. Rogers added another major accomplishment to his impressive collegiate career by winning the East 2 Regional Championship in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, securing a spot in the NJCAAE Tier 1 National Tournament where he will finish no worse than 10th in the country.

Robert Rogers (Lorain, Ohio/Clearview HS) Named SUBWAY MARKETPLACE Athlete of the Week (Feb. 23 – March 1, 2025) Robert Rogers continues his dominant start to the NJCAAE spring season, securing two more wins to improve to 4-0. He maintained his perfect 12-0 round record with victories over Muskegon Community College and Terra State Community College in Tier 1 Premier Series play.

SUBWAY MARKETPLACE Athlete of the Week for Feb. 16-22

Rashaud Finley (Cleveland, Ohio/Bard HS) is the SUBWAY MARKETPLACE Athlete of the Week for the week of February 16-22, 2025, after leading the Commodores in scoring during the NJCAA DIII Region Championship against Owens Community College. Finley delivered a standout performance, dropping a game-high 29 points while shooting an impressive 62.5% (10-16) from the field and 50% (4-8) from three-point range. He also went 5-7 (71.4%) from the free-throw line.

SUBWAY MARKETPLACE Athlete of the Week for Feb. 9-15

Abigail Schmitz (Amherst, Ohio/Firelands HS) is the SUBWAY MARKETPLACE Athlete of the Week for the week of February 9-15, 2025 after a pair of stellar performances on the court. Against Owens Community College on February 13, Schmitz scored 28 points while shooting 41.9% (13-31) from the field. She also secured 13 rebounds. Additionally, she contributed five assists and one steal in the closely contested 67-62 loss. Schmitz continued her impressive run on February 15 against Edison State, leading her team with 20 points, hitting four shots from deep in the process. On the defensive end, she grabbed seven rebounds and dished out three assists.

Lorain County Community College standout center Ally Winnen has been named the LCCC Subway Marketplace Athlete of the Week after delivering record-breaking performances in back-to-back games against Bryant & Stratton College and Clark State College.

Dennis Pettis Jr. (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain HS) is the Lorain County Community College SUBWAY MARKETPLACE Athlete of the Week for the week of January 26-February 1, 2025. Pettis, a Lorain native and Lorain High School graduate, delivered back-to-back strong performances, averaging 22 points, 6 rebounds, and 2.5 assists over the two-game stretch.

SUBWAY MARKETPLACE Athlete of the Week for Jan. 19-25

Chloe Meng (Elyria, Ohio/First Baptist Christian) is the Lorain County Community College SUBWAY MARKETPLACE Athlete of the Week for the week of January 19-25, 2025. Meng delivered the decisive play in the Commodores' thrilling 70-68 victory over the Clark State College Eagles on Saturday, January 25, 2025. Following a timeout, teammate Abigail Schmitz executed a perfect inbounds pass from the baseline, finding a wide-open Meng who drained the go-ahead three-pointer with just eight seconds left on the clock, securing the win for LCCC.
