Nathan Keys became the Lorain County Community College Sports Information Specialist in July 2021. As the athletic department’s SIS, Keys updates athletics.lorainccc.edu and manages all information disseminated from the LCCC athletic department.
Keys’s experience working in collegiate athletics spans a decade starting with his work as a student intern with the Ohio University Media Relations Department. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Sport Sciences from The Ohio University, he interned at the University of Arkansas in the New Media Department when social media was still in its infancy. Keys oversaw the live streaming of all athletic and special events through ArkansasRazorbacks.com totaling more than 400 live video and audio broadcasts. He helped Arkansas incorporate new media strategies such as live blogging and social media into the media relations department’s outreach to fans. He also produced video features for the Razorbacks Athletic Department.
In August of 2011, he accepted a position with Virginia Intermont College as the Sports Information Director where he created all digital content for Virginia Intermont’s Athletic Department including promotional videos used to help recruit student-athletes and posted highlights from games. Keys also helped oversee the overall marketing effort for the athletic department which included the creation of posters, schedule cards, and promotions for special events held at the college, both athletic and academic specific.
In 2013, he moved to Columbus, Ohio to work for the Ohio State Buckeyes Athletic Department where he revamped their in-house streaming broadcasts of olympic sports and assisted in the redesign of the department’s official athletic website. He expanded the amount of OnDemand content for different sports by posting highlights, press conferences, and video packages that highlighted the accomplishments of Ohio State’s student-athletes.
Keys is a native of Elyria, Ohio and is a 2005 graduate of Elyria High School. He is an avid Cleveland sports fan who can peacefully move on to the afterlife now that the Cavaliers won the NBA Championship in 2016. He enjoys golfing, wood working, chess, and fishing. Keys lives in Elyria, Ohio with his wife and two children.
