February 8, 2023 - - The Lorain County Community College Commodores fell behind the Tri-C Triceratops in the second half Wednesday and could not recover despite a comeback effort in the final minutes, losing 85-75 and falling to 11-15 on the year and 4-9 in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference.
The Commodores faced Cuyahoga Community College back in December in a contest that wasn't close from the get go, falling 88-69. This go around, they kept pace with the Triceratops in the first half and even led by as many as 14 points. However, LCCC cooled and Tri-C came back to tie the game at 36 by the intermission.
The Commodores were buoyed by Brandon Fisher's (Strongsville, Ohio/Columbia HS) hot shooting in the first half, as the freshman drained 4-of-6 shooting from downtown. Casey Kelley (Amherst, Ohio/Firelands HS) also provided a spark for the Commodores in the first half, scoring 12 points and dishing out a couple of assists.
Kelley finished with 18 points and eight assists. Fisher would end the night with a team-high 20 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
Jayden Roberts (Wellington, Ohio/Wellington HS) got himself another double-double despite being limited by foul trouble for most of the game. Roberts would only have nine shots but scored 14 points and had 10 rebounds.
The Commodores will play their final regular season home contest this weekend against the Hocking College. Hocking will be looking to get some revenge on the Commodores who defeated them 92-90 in a comeback effort on January 28th in Nelsonville, Ohio. Tip is at 1 p.m. and LCCC will be holding Sophomore Day prior to the game.
