LCCC SUBWAY MARKETPLACE Athlete of the Week for Jan.7-13, 2024
Deonte Benejan (Queens, N.Y./Lorain HS) is the Lorain County Community College SUBWAY MARKETPLACE Athlete of the Week for the week of January 7-13, 2024.
Benejan scored 64 points in two contests last week including 37 in the Commodores overtime loss to No. 11 Lakeland Community College (DII). Three days later he scored 27 for his 14th 20-point game of the season. In addition to his scoring, Benejan also had nine rebounds and dished out seven assists. As the one of the best free throw shooters in the country, Benejan had his fourth game of getting 10+ points from the charity stripe.
Benejan leads the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) in field goals made, total points, points per game, and free throws made. Nationally, he ranks second in all of NJCAA Division III with 27.2 points per game and 408 total points. He is third in total field goals made with 138.
