February 18, 2026 - - The Lorain County Community College men’s basketball team captured the NJCAA Division III Region 12 Championship with a 93–74 victory over Owens Community College in Perrysburg, Ohio Wednesday night.

February 11, 2026 - - Following her recognition as Player of the Week for the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference, Lorain County Community College women’s basketball player Abbey Schmitz (Amherst, Ohio/Firelands HS) received another accolade this week as she has been named the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Player of the Week following her performances from Feb. 2-8.
February 11, 2026 - - Lorain County Community College swept the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference Player of the Week awards, as Ike Rowser (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain HS) earned the men’s honor and Abbey Schmitz (Amherst, Ohio/Firelands HS) claimed the women’s award following their performances from Feb. 2-8. It is the second time this season that both players have earned the weekly award.

Dennis Pettis Jr. (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain HS) is the LCCC SUBWAY MARKETPLACE Athlete of the Week for the week of Feb. 8-14, 2026. Pettis averaged 24.0 points over three games while leading the Commodores in scoring during the week. He shot 28-of-61 (45.9 percent) from the field, including 6-of-14 from three-point range, and added 10 free throws. He opened the week with 28 points in a 93-83 win over Owens Community College on Feb. 9, shooting 11-of-21 from the field while adding nine rebounds, six assists, and six steals. On Feb. 11 at Owens, Pettis scored 27 points on 12-of-26 shooting to go along with eight rebounds and four assists. He closed the week with 17 points against Edison State on Feb. 14, adding six rebounds, three assists, one steal, and one block.
