Bio
Jake Solomon was named the Head Coach of the Commodores Baseball Program in July of 2025. Coach Solomon brings over a decade of coaching and teaching experience, with a strong reputation for player development, leadership, and building a championship-level culture on and off the field.
Solomon joined LCCC after serving as an assistant coach at Cuyahoga Community College, where he played a key role in one of the top offensive teams in the NJCAA. During his time there, the team captured back-to-back OCCAC Championships (2024, 2025), including a historic 44-8 season in 2025 that featured a 41-game win streak. Under his guidance, the offense finished first in the nation in batting average (.366), on-base percentage (.508), and stolen bases (225), while ranking among the top ten nationally in several other offensive categories.
Known for his expertise in hitting and strength & conditioning, Solomon is OnBaseU Hitting Certified, Blast Motion Certified, and a Mental Performance Mastery (MPM) Coach through Brian Cain Peak Performance. He has developed and implemented comprehensive year-round player development programs, incorporating technology such as HitTrax, Rapsodo, and Blast Motion bat sensors.
Before his time at Tri-C, Solomon served as Associate Head Coach and Hitting Coordinator at St. Edward High School and was previously the youngest head varsity baseball coach in Ohio when hired at Cuyahoga Heights High School in 2018. His teams consistently overachieved, including a top-5 program win percentage and a state top-10 ranking in his first year.
From 2015–2020, Solomon served as an Assistant Coach with the Cleveland Guardians’ Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (R.B.I.) Program in Cleveland, Ohio. In this role, he carried out Major League Baseball–directed procedures while coordinating hitting and strength and conditioning programs, recruiting and evaluating players, overseeing player development, and managing field maintenance. During his tenure, he helped guide the team to the 2019 Central Regional Championship in Indianapolis.
A former standout student-athlete himself, Solomon played four years of collegiate baseball at The College of Wooster under head coach Tim Pettorini. He was a team captain his senior year and helped lead the Fighting Scots to two North Coast Athletic Conference Championships. At the high school level, he was an All-Ohio selection in both football and baseball at Independence High School.
Off the field, Solomon is an educator with a decade of teaching in both public and private schools. He currently teaches mathematics at St. Edward High School in Lakewood, Ohio, and is passionate about building relationships with student-athletes to help them grow as players, students, and people.
Coach Solomon holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics with a minor in Education from The College of Wooster and a Master's of Education in Classroom Technology from Bowling Green State University. He lives in the West Park section of Kamm's Corners in Cleveland with his wife Kaitlyn.
