Esports Recap: The NJCAAE Postseason Is Here
November 28, 2023 - - The Lorain County Community College Esports team has moved on to the postseason where Tier 3 (Open Series) and Tier 2 (Contender Series) have several players competing in the NJCAAE Playoffs. See the complete schedule here.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - 1v1 – Best of 5
Seven Commodores will compete Tuesday evening in the first round of the NJCAA Contender Series Playoffs where 128 competitors will square off over the next week to determine a champion. Colby Cabrera finished with a 6-1 after winning five straight contests during the regular season to get the seventh seed. All players will compete on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 starting at 6:30 p.m.

Open Series (Tier 3)

Robert Rogers will represent LCCC as the No. 8 in a field of 32 competitors this Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
Collin Zielinski made the Open Series postseason as the 7th seed and will take on Northwest College after earning a bye during the first round.
Valorant – 5v5 - Best of 3
LCCC's Gold Valorant team received a first round bye as the No. 7 seed and will take on the winner of Hocking College or Arizona Western College.
In the Open Series, No. 13 LCCC's Valorant Blue team is taking on No. 20 Penn Highlands Community College in the first round.
Madden 24 – 1v1 - Best of 3
Derek Morta did not play last week in the Open Series of Madden 24 and begins playoff matches this week as the No. 1 Seed in the NJCAAE Open Series Postseason. He has a bye during the first round and is will play the winner of the Iowa Western Community College and Marshalltown Community College.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Crew Battle – 3v3 - Best of 3
The Super Smash Bros. Crew will compete in the playoffs this Saturday against Marshalltown Community College Crew. Match begins at 2:30 p.m.
LCCC's Esports team competes in the National Junior College Athletic Association Esports (NJCAAE) which is split into three tiers: Tier 1 - Premier Series, Tier 2 - Contender Series, and Tier 3 - Open Series. LCCC has players that compete in Tier 2 and Tier 3. Tier 2 - Contender Series (CS) competition is the mid-level of NJCAAE competition for members with teams made up of eligible students while Tier 3 - Open Series (OS) competition is the open level of NJCAAE competition for members. Participants do not have to meet any Student Eligibility requirements and don't have to play every week.
The Tier 2 season lasts for seven weeks before the playoffs start while the Tier 3 season runs from July to December for a total of 24 weeks which includes the playoffs.
