March 15, 2024 - - The Lorain County Community College esports team wrapped up Week 4 of NJCAAE play Friday evening with two Super Smash Bros. teams competing in Crew Battle, a 3v3 knockout format, against Trinity Valley Community College and Marshalltown Community College.

Playing for the Gold squad Friday night was Josh Conde (Lorain, Ohio/LCCC Early College) David LeBron Jr. (Lorain, Ohio/Clearview HS), Christopher Gonet (Lorain, Ohio/LCCC Early College).  Despite getting Trinity Valley Community College down to their final player in each round, they weren't able to pick up a win and fell in two rounds.

The Blue Squad—consisting of Gabriel Beckstrom (Lorain, Ohio/Clearview HS), Robert Rogers (Lorain, Ohio/Clearview HS), Colby Cabrera (Amherst, Ohio/Marion L. Steele HS).--lost the first round on its last player but fought back in the second round thanks to Rogers eliminating Marshalltown's last two players to force a third round.  Rogers started for LCCC in round three and got going by eliminating Marshalltown's first two competitors.  However, Marshalltown's last fighter finished off Rogers, then eliminated Beckstrom, and then Cabrera to take the win.  It was the blue squad's first loss of the spring.

The Smash players will be back in action on Tuesday for individual matchups for week 5 of the NJCAAE Spring Season. The live streamed match will begin at 6 p.m. on LCCC's Twitch channel: CommodoreEsports.
