Coleman Stays Perfect In Smash Bros. Through NJCAAE Week 5

March 19, 2024 - - The Lorain County Community College Esports team competed in Week 5 of the NJCAAE spring season Tuesday with four Commodores picking up wins.

LCCC had two players that came into week 5 undefeated.  Unfortunately, they were matched up against each other and one of the unblemished records had to fall.  Matthew Coleman (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria HS) defeated teammate Gabriel Beckstrom (Lorain, Ohio/Clearview HS) in six rounds to keep his undefeated record intact at 5-0.  It was a closely contested match as Coleman edged out Beckstrom in knockouts 15-13.

Also picking up a win was Robert Rogers (Lorain, Ohio/Clearview HS) against Jefferson State Community College.  Rogers bounced back from a week 4 loss last week to improve to 4-1.

Colby Cabrera (Amherst, Ohio/Marion L. Steele HS) and Jason Thomas (Lorain, Ohio/Clearview HS) picked up forfeit wins in Week 5.  Cabrera improves to 3-2 while Thomas evens his record at 2-2.

Esports will be back in action Thursday with Mario Kart and Valorant. Mario Kart starts at 6 p.m. while Valorant will begin at 7:30 p.m.
