Commodores' Basketball Team Keeps Two Streaks Alive: (1) 10-Game Winning Streak and (2) 10 Different Scoring Leaders in 10 Games to Date

The beat goes on for the Lorain County Community College men's basketball team which has opened the 2017-18 basketball season with a perfect 10-0 record and is the second-highest-scoring NJCAA DIII team in the country, averaging 103.1 ppg.  Along the way, the team has been the beneficiary of not 3, not 5, not 7, but TEN different scoring leaders in its ten games to date.

A winning streak is one thing; a ten-game winning streak with a different scoring leader each and every game is quite another thing.  "Remarkable," "amazing," crazy," "unbelievable," are some of the terms used to describe this rare -- if not unique -- statistical feat.  Clearly, it points to the unselfish nature of the players and the coaching that nourishes that type of culture.

"I'd like to say we planned it, but we didn't," Head Coach Marty Eggleston stated.  "We groom each of our guys the same way.  Our goal is to have the same level of play regardless of who is in the game."

"I have been in this game for many years and I've never heard of a team with 10 different scoring leaders in any one season, not to mention in just 10 games," Assistant Coach John Keshock noted.

"I've been following basketball at various levels for decades and I've never seen anything like it," Play-by-Play announcer and LCCC Digital Media Broadcast Coordinator Ron Jantz said.
