Blakely, Rell Named OCCAC Players of the Week (Dec. 4-10, 2017)

Four student-athletes received OCCAC Basketball Player of the Week honors on Monday. Lorain County Community College again swept the D-III awards (Mike Rell and Angel Blakely).

ANGEL BLAKELY - LCCC Sophomore forward
Blakely corralled conference recognition for the second time in the last three weeks as the OCCAC Player of the Week on Nov. 27 as well. This week, she dropped in 22 points and hauled in nine rebounds in the Commodores lone contest. Blakely also chipped in two assists while converting on 8-of-18 from the field, 2-of-3 from long range and a 4-of-5 effort at the charity stripe.

Lorain County has now represented the D-III player of the week in four of six weeks following Hannah Oehlstrom's back-to-back distinctions to start the season (Nov. 6, Nov. 13).

MIKE RELL – LCCC Sophomore guard
Rell poured in 22 points in just 21 minutes during a 128-88 victorious shootout over the Community College of Allegheny County-Boyce. He was responsible for nine made field goals on 13 attempts (69%) in addition to two boards and an assist.

Rell joins Daniel Lott (Nov. 6), Jovon Jones (Nov. 13), and Jake Schultz (Nov. 27) as D-III play of the week for Lorain County.
