Nearly-Flawless First Half Propels LCCC to 105-93 Victory at Owens CC

November 16, 2017 -- The Lorain County Community College men's basketball team -- led by six players in double figures and the team's best half of basketball to date -- beat Owens CC on Thursday night, 105-93, to stay undefeated at 4-0 this season.

Sophomore forward Dan Lott (pictured) paced a balanced scoring attack with 17 points.  Freshman guard Jatee Dudley made a great contribution with 15 points.  Sophomore forward Zach Swain converted 5-of-10 shots for 12 points.  Freshman point guard Justis Craig played great defense and added 11 points as did sophomore forward Mike Rell and sophomore guard Kevin Kelley.  Freshman guard Montez Day added nine points.

"We played a flawless first half; our best basketball to this point in the season," Head Coach Marty Eggleston said. "We won the first half by 33 points (62-29).  We got out on them and attacked the basket well.  Everyone contributed and we had excellent shooting overall," Eggleston commented.

Owens -- a DII program -- fought back to within eight points before the Commodores regained their composure to close out the game.  "Owens is very athletic and they are bigger than we are.  This was ground-breaking for us," Eggleston added.

The Commodores have started the season with four straight wins.  They will host Pitt-Titusville --  another DII school -- on Sunday at 3 p.m.
