Newman’s Double-Double Not Enough as LCCC Loses to Lakeland

February 20, 2019 - - The Lorain County Community College Men's Basketball team travelled to cross-town rival Lakeland Community College to square off against one of the top teams in the OCCAC but came up on the short-end of the 95-80 score.

Justin Newman (Cincinnati/Robert A. Taft) turned in a double-double for the Commodores and led all scorers in the game with 28. Newman also led the team with 14 rebounds, 7 assists, and 4 steals on the night. Andrew Nelson (Strongsville) came up big with 21 points, as did Jacob Marsh (Elyria) with 17 points.

Head Coach, Marty Eggleston, praised his team's effort saying "I am very proud of the guys tonight. They controlled the tempo for much of the game. We just got a little tired at the end."

LCCC is now 13-15 overall and 4-11 in OCCAC Conference play. Lakeland improves to 21-6 on the season and 10-4 in the OCCAC.

Lorain plays their final regular season game at home at 3 p.m., Saturday, February 23, 2019, against Sinclair Community College.
