February 3, 2020 - - Derek Yahnke (Hilliard/Hilliard Bradley) had a career-night for the Lorain County Community College Men's Basketball team but despite his incredible performance and a total team effort, LCCC lost 89-77 to Hocking College in OCCAC play. The loss drops the Commodores to 3-16 for the season and 0-6 in the always-tough OCCAC conference.
Yahnke scored a career-high 36 points and pulled in 22 rebounds for the Commodores. Half of Yahnke's points came from the charity stripe with an 18-27 effort. He also blocked two shots and had an assist. Jaylen Jenkins (Willoughby/Willoughby South) set a personal-best of his own, dishing out 12 assists. De'Miko Nelson (Cincinnati/DePaul Cristo Rey) and Jacob Marsh (Elyria) rounded out the double-digit scoring for LCCC with 15 points and 10 points, respectively.
The Commodores host Owens Community College for their next OCCAC contest at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 5, 2020.
