Men’s Basketball Late Game Effort Falls Short against Jamestown

December 18, 2019 - - A late comeback run by the Lorain County Community College Men's Basketball team was not enough to overcome a slow start against Jamestown Community College in an eventual 80-58 loss. The Commodores were hoping to avenge their 101-95 loss earlier this month to the Division II Jayhawks.

Darien Jackson (pictured; Lorain/Clearview) had a breakout game for the Commodores forcing multiple Jayhawk turnovers and creating several scoring opportunities for the Commodores down the stretch. Jackson scored 12 of his 14 points late in the second half with aggressive drives to the hoop and second effort on the boards.

Alex Wyatt (Brunswick) was also a key contributor for LCCC with 13 points, five rebounds, and three steals. Derek Yahnke (Hilliard/Hilliard Bradley) grabbed 10 rebounds, while Cody Mortensen (Sheffield Village/ Brookside) pulled in eight boards. De'Miko Nelson (Cincinnati/DePaul Cristo Rey) had an incredible six steals and contributed eight points.

The loss drops Lorain to 3-9 on the season, while Jamestown improves to 6-6 with the win.

LCCC hosts Bryant and Stratton College at 3 p.m. this Saturday, December 21, 2019.
