Commodores Fall To Butler County Community College On The Road, 111-102

December 18, 2023 - - The Lorain County Community College men's basketball team lost to Butler County Community College in Oak Hills, Pa. Monday evening, 111-102.

Deonte Benejan (Queens, N.Y./Lorain HS) – 36 points (12-13 FT), 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal

Willie Powell Jr. (Cleveland, Ohio/Bedford HS) – 17 points, 5 rebounds

Jayden Maxwell (Chicago, Ill./Buchtel CLC) – 24 points, 5 rebounds, 9-for-9 FT,

Tiyorne Coleman (New York City, N.Y./Bunnell HS) – 10 points, 14 rebounds

Recap

The Commodores used 7-0 run at the end of the first half to cut the Butler County Community College deficit down to two points heading into the break, 43-41.

Deonte Benejan tied the contest, 51-51, with a three ball from the corner at the 16:55 mark of the second half and on the next possession gave the Commodores the lead with a steal and score.  The Pioneers broke a 60-60 tie with a short jumper with 13 minutes left to play and took the lead for good.

Next Up

LCCC returns to the Ewing Activities Center Gymnasium this Wednesday, December 20, 2023 when they host the Westmoreland County Community College Wolfpack at 6:30 p.m. The Commodores defeated Westmoreland on Nov. 21, 93-61.
