Men’s Cross Country Cracks Top 10 In First NJCAA DIII Poll of 2023

September 28, 2023 - - The Lorain County Community College men's cross country team earned a spot in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) coaches' rankings released last week.  The Commodores are ranked 10th in the first poll released for the 2023 cross country season and it is the eighth straight poll where the Commodores place 12th or higher going back to the 2021 season.

The list, posted by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), is the first of four polls that will come out before the final rankings are determined at the NJCAA National Championships on November 11, 2023, in Huntsville, Ala.

LCCC spent the entire 2022 season ranked in the top 10 amongst NJCAA DIII schools and finished ninth at nationals for their fourth top-10 finish with Jim Powers as head coach.

So far this season, LCCC has competed in two races.  The first came on September 1, 2023, at the College of Wooster Invitational where the Commodores competed against runners from the College of Wooster and Cleveland State University.

On September 15, 2023, LCCC was the only two-year college to compete in the All-Ohio Championships hosted by Cedarville University.  LCCC's next race will come on Friday, September 29, 2023, at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational held in Delaware, Ohio on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University.  The men's race begins at 6 p.m. and the women's race starts at 6:45 p.m.
