Commodore Softball Inks Three Players This Month For 2025 Season

February 22, 2024 - - The Lorain County Community College softball team inked three new players this week in Tara Davidson (New London HS), Amanda DeWitt (Firelands HS), and Kaylynn Hannan (Brookside HS).  All three will complete high school this year before joining the Commodores for the 2025 season.

DeWitt, a switch-hitting catcher, has proved to be effective at the plate as she led the Lorain County 8 League in slugging percentage and was third in batting average, hits, and stolen bases during her sophomore year at Firelands.  She also earned All-Lorain County DII First Team honors after her sophomore and junior seasons for the Falcons.   She has also been twice named to the LC-8 All-Conference Second Team.

Davidson plays third base and outfield for the New London Wildcats.  During her junior year, she was second on the team in batting average (.357) and on-base percentage (.438).  She also displayed some power at the plate with two home runs while driving in 11 runs last season.  Davidson plans to major in Early Childhood Education.

Hannan, an infielder for the Brookside Cardinals, played in 10 games during her junior year and batted .364.  She made the All-Lorain County DII Second Team for her junior season.

"Tara, Kaylynn, and Mandy bring a wide array of talents to the Commodore program," says Bill Matthews who has been at the helm of the LCCC softball team since 2019.   "All three can play multiple positions and have excellent softball fundamentals."
