Baseball’s Jaden Nestor-Fox Makes All-OCCAC and NJCAA All-American

July 11, 2024 - - During the 2024 baseball season for Lorain County Community College, Jaden Nestor-Fox (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion HS) was a standout ballplayer who was one of toughest outs in not just the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC), but in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) as well.

At the conclusion of the season, Nestor-Fox made First Team All-OCCAC and then was named an NJCAA DIII Third Team All-American in June. He is the first LCCC baseball player to make the NJCAA All-American since 2012.

"Jaden was a great team leader on and off the field," said Bill Frawley, LCCC's head coach since 2005.

"He put in a lot of work to make himself the best player he could be. It really showed with both his defense and offense. I am excited for him to be named an All-American as he really deserves it. He has committed to play for Bethany College next year. I wish him the best of luck with his future success."

It caps an incredible career for the everyday second basemen who was a vacuum with his reliable glove and posted an on-base percentage of .563 as leadoff man for the Commodores.  His batting average of .470 for the season was second in the OCCAC and seventh in the NJCAA.  His on-base percentage was eighth among all DIII players.

In addition to leading his team in average, he also led in runs scored (37), hits (55), and stolen bases (12).

Nestor-Fox began the season reaching base in 17 consecutive games and had 16 multi-hit games over the campaign, including a 4-for-5 performance against Terra State in the NJCAA Region 12 Tournament in May.  He scored 3 runs, had a triple, and two RBIs against the Titans and was named to the Region 12 All-Tournament team.

Over the final six games of the season, Nestor-Fox had 11 hits, scored 7 runs, with four extra base hits for the Commodores.

In the field, Nestor-Fox was consistent with the leather throughout the entire season. He finished with a .923 fielding percentage and had 97 put outs with 11 double plays.

In May, LCCC recognized Nestor-Fox with the Cheryl Allen Sportsmanship Award given to a player with a good academic record who exemplifies sportsmanship at all times whether on or off the field, both to their teammates and opponents. In addition to his athletic achievements, Nester-Fox was named to the OCCAC All-Academic Team three times.
