
Terra State Sweeps Commodores At The Pipe Yard
April 18, 2025 - - At the Pipe Yard in Lorain, the Lorain County Community College Commodore baseball team faced off against Terra State Community College in a doubleheader that saw the Titans take both contests, 16-4 in Game 1 and 8-2 in Game 2.
Game 1 Recap: Terra State 16, LCCC 4
LCCC put runs on the board in each of the first, second, and fourth innings, but the Titans responded with multiple runs in all five innings to put the Commodores down early. Sophomore Louis Jones (Romulus, Mich./Edsel Ford HS) delivered a solo home run late and scored a run earlier in the contest.
Kian Ortiz (Lorain, Ohio/Clearview HS) added to the scoring effort with a pair of RBI singles, going 2-for-3 at the plate and driving in two of LCCC's four runs. Luke Decker (Elyria, Ohio/Midview HS) also had a solid game, finishing 2-for-3 from the batter's box. Freshman Colin McCrone (Lakewood, Ohio/Lakewood HS) chipped in a hit and a run scored, and Jacob Sanders (Columbia Station, Ohio/Columbia HS) walked and stole a base.
On the mound, the Commodores used three pitchers. Nick Schuster (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria HS) started and worked 3.0 innings, recording 1 strikeout. He was followed by Jonathan Lockard (Hartville, Ohio/Lake HS), who pitched 0.1 innings, and Yannick Kiss (Bad Homburg, Germany/Phillip Reis Schule) , who closed out the final 1.2 innings while collecting 2 strikeouts.
Game 2 Recap: Terra State 8, LCCC 2
LCCC kept things close through much of the second game, staying within striking distance until Terra added insurance runs late. Sanders continued his productive day, going 2-for-4 with a run scored and making several solid defensive plays at second base. Frame brought in a run with an RBI single and showed great plate discipline by also drawing a walk.
The Commodores racked up 9 hits in the second contest, with Ortiz adding another 2-hit performance behind the dish. Nick Jiminian (Bronx, New York/Mooresvile HS) added an RBI single in the sixth to give LCCC another late push, while Kulwicki (Grafton, Ohio/Midview HS) and Giovanni Crawford (Reno, Nevada/Earl Wooster HS) each chipped in base hits as well.
Freshman pitcher ReDon "TJ" Jones III (Mayfield Heights, Ohio/Cornerstone Christian HS) got the start for LCCC in Game 2, tossing a full outing in a gritty performance that kept Terra from running away early.
