April 21, 2025 - - The Lorain County Community College baseball team battled hard in Livonia, Michigan against Schoolcraft College on April 17, 2025. After dropping the first game 15-5, LCCC stormed back with an 18-16 victory in game two, highlighted by a massive 10-run inning in the fifth inning where every Commodore in the lineup scored.
In Game 1, Louis Jones (Romulus, Mich./Edsel Ford HS) led the way with three RBIs, while Nick Schuster (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria HS) and Jacob Sanders (Columbia Station, Ohio/Columbia HS) each drove in a run. Kian Ortiz (Lorain, Ohio/Clearview HS) sparked the offense with a double, triple, and stolen base. Giovanni Crawford (Reno, Nevada/Earl Wooster HS) pitched 5 innings with 3 strikeouts, and Yannick Kiss (Bad Homburg, Germany/Phillip-Schule) threw 0.2 innings with 1 strikeout.
Game 2 showcased LCCC's firepower byscoring a run in the first, and then adding 7 runs in the second inning. Luke Decker (Elyria, Ohio/Midview HS) paced the offense with three hits and five RBIs including a home run in the second inning. Frame scored three times and drove in two. Jones added two hits and two RBIs, and Kiss tallied two RBIs and scored twice. Crawford chipped in two hits and an RBI, while Nick Jiminian (Bronx, N.Y./Mooresville HS) had a two-hit, one-RBI game. Sanders also added an RBI with two runs scored. The Ocelots tied the game up at eight runs a piece in the third inning and then took a three run lead into the fifth when the Commodores exploded for 10 runs and a seven run lead.
On the mound, Yaniel Valentin (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain HS) and Jonathan Lockard (Hartville, Ohio/Lake HS) combined to close out the win for LCCC.
