A Rarity -- Commodores Boast Seven Scoring-Leaders in Seven Games on Way to Perfect 7-0 Record
November 30, 2017 -- Very rare...if not unique! The Lorain County Community College men's basketball team has been the recipient of, not one, not two, not three, but seven different scoring leaders in its seven games while starting the season with an unblemished 7-0 record.
If a team has more than two or three scoring leaders, that would be considered a luxury. With a different scoring leader in every game this season, the Commodores have made it nearly impossible for opponents to key on any one or two players. The closest victory margin has been 11 points.
"We groom each of our guys the same way," Head Coach Marty Eggleston (pictured) stated. "Our goal is to have the same level of play regardless of who is in the game."
Here are the seven scoring leaders in the Commodores' seven games to date:
*at CC Allegheny County - Boyce -- win 95-84; Daniel Lott 23 points
*vs Anne Arundel CC (@Westmoreland Tourn.) -- win 91-63; Zach Swain 15 points
*vs Lehigh Carbon CC (@Westmoreland Tourn.) -- win 101-69; Jovon Jones 14 points
*at Owens CC -- win 105-93; Jatee Dudley (and Daniel Lott) 15 points
*vs Pitt-Titusville CC -- win 109-84; Miles Meredith (and Daniel Lott) 14 points
*vs Westmoreland CC -- win 104-79; Montez Day 19 points
*at Lakeland CC -- win 101-90; Oscar Dorsey 22 points
The Commodores balanced attack has resulted in an average of 100.7 points per game, ranking No. 5 in the nation in Division III. The team has been averaging 9.7 three-point baskets per game, ranking No. 9 in DIII. The defense has snatched 13.1 steals per game, good for No. 7 nationally.
LCCC plays at Edison CC this Saturday, Dec. 2 at 3 p.m. The next home game is Wednesday, Dec. 6, hosting CC Allegheny County - Boyce at 6 p.m.
