LCCC's Blakely and Schultz Named OCCAC Players of the Week

November 28, 2017 -- Lorain County Community College basketball teams swept the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) women's and men's Player of the Week awards for Division III schools.  The announcement was made yesterday by the OCCAC.

Angel Blakely, a sophomore forward from Lorain (Clearview) notched a double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds with 2 assists and 2 steals against Westmoreland CC on Tuesday, November 21, in a 63-60 loss.  Blakely is the Lady Commodores' No. 2 scorer averaging 16.5 points per game and the team's leader in rebounds  (8.4) and assists (2.6). 

Jake Schultz, a sophomore guard from Parma (Heritage Christian) came off the bench to score his personal season-high 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting along with 7 rebounds, 5 steals and 2 assists in the 104-79 victory over Westmoreland CC on Tuesday, November 21.

This is the third time in four weeks that the LCCC men and women have won OCCAC Players of the Week, DIII honors.  Freshman guard Hannah Oehlstrom (Avon Lake/Avon Lake) won the award in back-to-back weeks on Nov. 13 and 20. Sophomore forward Daniel Lott (Brooklyn/Brooklyn) earned the honor in week 1 (Nov. 6) and freshman forward Jovon Jones (Cleveland/Faith Baptist) was named in week 2 (Nov. 13).
