Top-Seeded Cougars Defeat LCCC Men’s Basketball in Region XII Semi

February 22, 2020 - - Top-seeded Columbus State Community College proved to be too much for the Commodores to handle as they handed LCCC a 114-67 loss in the NJCAA Division III Region XII Semi-Final basketball game today played at Ohio Christian University.

The Cougars captured the OCCAC conference title this year with a 9-2 mark, which includes a mix of Division II and III Colleges, to earn the first seed. Columbus improves to 17-7 on the year and advances to play the winner of the Hocking College and Owens semi-final game. LCCC wraps up their season at 3-24 overall.

De'Miko Nelson (Cincinnati/DePaul Cristo Rey) led the Commodores in scoring with 17 points. He also had seven rebounds and two assists. Derek Yahnke (Hilliard/Hilliard Bradley) recorded another double-double with 14 points and 10 boards, while Darien Jackson (Lorain/Clearview) added 12 points.
