Softball Signs Three Players for 2026 Season
June 10, 2025 - - Three student-athletes—Madison Rowland, Jadyn Whitehouse, and Brooklyn Jan—have officially signed their Letters of Intent to continue their academic and athletic careers with the Lorain County Community College softball program next spring. Each brings a unique story of perseverance, leadership, and passion for the game. From setting records and earning all-state honors to overcoming personal challenges and making the most of every opportunity, these players represent the heart and grit of what it means to be a Commodore.
Madison Rowland
A 2025 graduate of New London High School, Rowland earned a 3.76 GPA and was recognized on the High Honor Roll throughout her academic career. She was also an active member of the National Honor Society and Teen Leadership Corps.
Rowland was a standout multi-sport athlete at New London, as well as a leader for her teams, serving as team captain in volleyball, basketball and softball, while also participating in track. In softball, she earned varsity letters starting in 2022, collected accolades like the Silver Slugger Award, had multiple First Team All-Conference honors, and was named MVP in 2023. In her senior year, she achieved First Team All-District and All-Ohio Honorable Mention honors, while also breaking both the career and single-season home run records— an accomplishment she cites as her favorite memory as a player.
As a catcher with the versatility to play nearly any position, Madison is known as a power hitter and fierce competitor. She describes her love for softball as rooted in its ability to teach valuable life lessons, particularly how to handle failure while still finding ways to succeed.
She is majoring in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
Jadyn Whitehouse
Jadyn was a multi-sport athlete in high school, competing in softball, cheerleading, and volleyball. She played four years of varsity softball and served as team captain, also leading in cheer for three years. Her softball accomplishments are as impressive as they are well-rounded. At the "For the Love of Softball" camp, she dominated her age bracket, earning top awards for farthest hit, longest throw, and fastest throw—a testament to her raw athletic talent and powerful skill set. On the field, she was known as a strong hitter and a reliable catcher who worked closely with her pitchers. Her leadership helped keep her team focused and unified through the highs and lows of competition.
Whitehouse is going to major in Business Management and Entrepreneurship at LCCC. She graduated from Oberlin High School and Lorain County JVS in 2025. Beyond the classroom, she was deeply involved in her community, volunteering with Oberlin Community Services, CATSS Oberlin, and coaching youth softball for the Oberlin Baseball Softball Federation. She also hosted clinics for young players, sharing her love and knowledge of the game with children as young as three.
Jadyn's favorite memory as a player was winning both the district and league championships with her travel team in the Emerald Necklace League—especially meaningful as they defeated her high school coach's team. She describes herself as a reliable, hard-working leader with a positive attitude and a passion for supporting her teammates. She credits the game with teaching her resilience and mental toughness.
Jadyn plans to continue her academic and athletic journey at a four-year school after her time at LCCC.
Brooklyn Jan
Brooklyn's softball journey exemplifies her determination and love for the game. After being cut as a freshman, she returned her sophomore year and made the JV team. She stepped away during her junior year but came back as a senior, once again making JV. Rather than be discouraged, Brooklyn embraced the opportunity, played with heart, and enjoyed a fulfilling season doing what she loves. Her favorite memory on the field comes from a summer tournament when her team won the championship game and was named MVP for her performance at third base.
Though she only appeared in two varsity games in high school, Brooklyn made the most of every opportunity. In one of those games, she recorded five hits—including two doubles and three singles—and drove in four runs. She also delivered a strong defensive performance at third base, proving her value both at the plate and in the field.
Brooklyn describes herself as a passionate and determined athlete who finds joy in every aspect of softball. For her, the sport is about teamwork, growth and resilience. She loves how everyone has a role to play and how the game teaches important life lessons, even through mistakes.
A 2025 graduate of Brunswick High School, Brooklyn was recognized with academic honors such as the Honor Roll, Summa Cum Laude distinction and the Scholar Athlete Award. She was also an active member of several school organizations, including Link Crew, Huddle, VOFT (Volunteer Opportunities for Teens), Big Brother/Big Sister and the Student Leadership Council.
She will pursue a degree in nursing at LCCC. Brooklyn plans to continue her academic journey at a four-year school.
