November 14, 2024 - - The Lorain County Community College women's basketball team led the Community Christian College Lions by 18 points after the first ten minutes of play to set the tone for the evening as they cruised to their third win of the season, 76-43.
LCCC (3-1) finished with five players scoring in double figures and moved the ball around for 20 assists. They took a 24-point lead into halftime thanks to defense and timely scoring with two players, Abbey Schmitz and Chloe Meng, scoring in double figures.
The defense forced 17 Lion turnovers which led to 18 points off turnovers.
Meng (Elyria, Ohio/First Baptist Christian HS) led LCCC in scoring with 16 points along with five rebounds in the win. Schmitz (Amherst, Ohio/Firelands HS) finished with 15 points and pulled down six rebounds and three assists.
Ally Winnen (Lorain, Ohio/Elyria Catholic HS) got her third double-double of the season with 14 points and 15 rebounds.
Michelle Echevarria (Ponce, Puerto Rico/Lehigh HS) got her first double-double of her career with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Sidney Iler (LaGrange, Ohio/First Baptist Christian HS) had 10 points.
