
LCCC Volleyball Knocks Off Clark State in Four Sets
September 26, 2022 - - The Lorain County Community College volleyball team picked up their sixth win of the season to improve to 6-3 overall and 4-1 in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference after dispatching the Clark State Community College Eagles in four sets.
LCCC dropped the first set, 21-25, but rebounded to take the next three games (25-23,25-17, 25-22) for the win.
Chelsey Farris (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria HS) once again fueled the offensive attack for the Commodores with 19 kills and a .500 hitting percentage. The two-time OCCAC Player of the Week also got the job done on the defensive end with seven digs and four blocked shots (two solo) as well.
Assisting in the offensive effort was Shawny Hess (Oberlin, Ohio/Firelands HS) and Abbey Williams (North Ridgeville, Ohio/First Baptist Christian) with nine kills each. MJ Blair (Lorain, Ohio/North Ridgeville HS) also logged eight kills.
Leading LCCC in digs was Izabel Gallardo-Santo Domingo (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria HS) with 26. Santo Domingo, along with teammate Lexa Bunevich (Lakewood, Ohio/Lakewood HS) had three services aces. Brooklyn Ollis (Amherst, Ohio/Firelands HS) and Jordan Benware (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake HS) also notched double-digit digs with 10 and 13 respectively. Benware also had 18 assists while Maggie Riley (Elyria, Ohio/Midview HS) had a team-high 25 assists.
The Commodores hit the road on Wednesday for another OCCAC match up with the Terra State Community College Titans in Fremont, Ohio. Match begins at 6 p.m.
