October 8, 2024 - - It was total domination by the No. 14 Lorain County Community College volleyball team against Penn State Shenango Tuesday night in a non-conference tilt inside the Ewing Activities Center Gymnasium. The Commodores breezed through the Lions in straight sets 25-10, 25-13, 25-10.
It was their seventh straight victory and the second match in a row where the Commodores swept their opponent. They hit .351 against the Lions for their second best hitting performance of the season.
They improved to 9-5 on the year.

The Commodores wasted no time in the first set. Leading the Lions 4-2, they put together a 10-0 run fueled by four Ava Haddix aces to take a 14-2 lead. The Commodores easily got the victory in the first game, 25-10. LCCC hit .409 with 11 kills against 2 errors.
The second set saw more of the same as LCCC jumped out to another large lead. While they may not have hit as efficient (.265) as they did in the first set, they built a massive 10-1 lead to force PSS into a timeout. Both teams traded points until LCCC prevailed 25-13.
Another run for the Commodores pushed them out to an 8-0 lead in the third to force a Lion timeout. After the timeout, the Commodores could sense victory after a12-5 run put them out in front 20-5. They hit their best in the final set at .444 with 10 kills and two errors.
Next Up:
LCCC travels to Lakeland Community College on Wednesday, October 9 for an Ohio Community College Athletic Conference match up in Kirtland, Ohio at 6 p.m. In two victories against Lakeland already this season, the Commodores won in four sets at home on September 18 and needed five sets on September 30. The second match was not an OCCAC contest.
