LCCC Swept In Doubleheader Vs. Miami University Middletown

March 28, 2025 - - Lorain County Community College baseball suffered two losses in a doubleheader against Miami University Middletown on Friday at the Pipe Yard in Lorain. The Commodores dropped the first game 10-5 and trailed 13-3 in the second game before it was called due to rain.

Game One:

LCCC got off to a promising start as Colin McCrone homered in the first inning to give the Commodores a 1-0 lead. However, Miami Middletown responded with three runs in the third inning to take the lead and tacked on seven more runs over the fifth and sixth innings to extend their advantage.

The Commodores attempted to rally in the bottom of the fifth, with Jacob Sanders driving in two runs. Kian Ortiz followed with a triple, bringing home Jackson Frame, who had reached on an error. Joey Kulwicki then added an infield single to score Ortiz, but LCCC was unable to close the gap further.

Game Two: 

Miami Middletown dominated early, scoring 13 runs before LCCC managed to respond. The Commodores put together some offense late, starting with Louis Jones singling on a fly ball to left field. Jacob Sanders followed with a double to center field, setting the stage for McCrone, who tripled to right field, scoring Jones and Sanders. Travis Gentry capped off the inning with an RBI single to left field, scoring McCrone. However, the game was called due to rain before LCCC could mount a full comeback.

Next Up:

The Commodores will look to bounce back as they return to the Pipe Yard on Saturday for another doubleheader, this time against Community Christian College. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m.
