2024 Fall Season Opens Up For LCCC Esports Team In New Practice Room

October 1, 2024 - - The Lorain County Community College Esports program kicked off the fall season on Tuesday with competitors facing off in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Fortnite.

 

LCCC had seven players competing in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on the Nintendo Switch Tuesday evening with one team competing in Fortnite, the first time LCCC Esports has participated in the game title. 

 

On the Smash side, Robert Rogers (Lorain, Ohio/Clearview HS) participated in Tier 1 – Primier Series and won his first best-of-five match in Tier 1 Premier Series against Daytona State Community College in three games but lost his second game to Lackawanna Community College in three games.

 

Gabriel Beckstrom (Lorain, Ohio/Clearview HS) earned a 4-0 sweep in his match against State Technical College of Missouri in Tier 3 – Open Series play.

 

Ethan Stump (Elyria, Ohio/LCCC Early College) won his Tier 3 match up against State Fair Community College.

 

Jason Thomas (Lorain, Ohio/Clearview HS) lost in five games to Gulf Coast Community College.

 

Colby Cabrera (Amherst, Ohio/Marion L. Steele HS) defeated Lake Michigan College in four games in Tier 2.

 

David LeBron Jr. (Lorain, Ohio/Clearview HS) and Nehemiah Hopkins (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria HS) each earned forfeit wins against South East Community College and State Fair Community College in Tier 2 play.

 

In Fortnite, Mason Henderson (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion HS) and Anthony Gonzalez (Lorain, Ohio/LCCC Early College) earned their first win, and the first win for LCCC in Fortnite, with a 2-1 win in 2v2 competition.

 

Next Up:

For the rest of the week, LCCC will compete in 1v1 Mario Kart and 5v5 Valorant (Thursday) and 3v3 Super Smash Bros.: Crew Battle and 3v3 Rocket League (Friday).
