
LCCC Esports Super Smash Bros. Team Dominate Tuesday In NJCAAE Week 2 Play
October 8, 2024 - - The Lorain County Community College esports team moved on to week 2 in the National Junior College Athletic Association Esports fall season with LCCC picking up eight wins over three tiers of competition Tuesday night.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – 1v1 – Best-of-Four
Starting with Tier 3 Open Series, Nehemiah Hopkins (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria HS) picked up a 4-1 win against Iowa Western Community College. Gabriel Beckstrom (Lorain, Ohio/Clearview HS) won two matches, the first against Marshalltown Community College in six games and then got a forfeit victory against Southwest Wisconsin Technical College.
Josh Conde (Lorain, Ohio/LCCC Early College), Ethan Stump (Elyria, Ohio/LCCC Early College), and Colby Cabrera (Amherst, Ohio/Marion L. Steele HS) swept their opponents for wins. Cabrera also picked up a win in Tier 2 – Contender Series with another sweep against Lake Michigan College.
Finally in Tier 1 - Premier Series competition which is best-of-three, Robert Rogers (Lorain, Ohio/Clearview HS) picked a win via forfeit against Hudson Valley Community College before falling to Lackawanna Community College in four rounds.
