
Rogers and Zielinski Stay Perfect In Mario Kart; Valorant Gets First Win
October 24, 2024 - - Week 4 in the National Junior College Athletic Association Esports fall season continued on Thursday with two students from Lorain County Community College's esports program keeping perfect records in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe competition and the Tier 1 Valorant team picked up their first win of the fall.
Mario Kart 8 – 1v1 – Best-of-Seven
Robert Rogers (Lorain, Ohio/Clearview HS) won his eighth match of the fall to stay undefeated in Tier 1 Premier Series play. In 35 total races this fall, he has won 32 of them. Colin Zielinski (North Olmsted, Ohio/North Olmsted HS) won his fifth match in Tier 3 Open Series play. None of Zielinksi's matches have reached a decisive round seven as he has won 20 out of 23 races.
Valorant – 5v5 – Best-of-three
Breaking through on Thursday was LCCC's Tier 1 Valorant team that secured a win against Guilford Technical Community College. They dominated both rounds but nearly lost in the second when Guilford erased an 8-0 lead by the Commodores.
Brody Taylor (North Ridgeville, Ohio/North Ridgeville HS) led the team in kills with 53 while Mason Henderson (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion HS) logged 40 and Tyler Misconish (Strongsville, Ohio/Strongsville HS) got 37. Kylie Zeman (North Ridgeville, Ohio/North Ridgeville HS) and Ethan Stump (Elyria, Ohio/LCCC Early College) also had 20+ kills in the match. Stump led in assists with 20 and Henderson led in bomb plants with 12.
LCCC's Tier 3 Valorant team also picked up a win on Thursday in 2 rounds as well.
