Commodores Get Down Early Quickly, Fall to Cuyahoga Community College

December 6, 2023 - - The Lorain County Community College men's basketball team lost to Cuyahoga Community College Wednesday evening, 130-91.  The Triceratops, who are receiving votes in the NJCAA DII polls, led the Commodores at the half 54-37.

Austin Copen (Amherst, Ohio/Firelands HS) – 19 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals

Jamair Blackmon (Akron, Ohio/Barberton HS) – 18 points, 2 assists, 2 steals

Willie Powell Jr. (Cleveland, Ohio/Bedford HS) – 12 points, 2 steals, 1 block

Jayden Maxwell (Chicago, Ill./Buchtel CLC) – 12 points (5-of-9 FG, 5 assists, 5 rebounds, 4 steals, 1 block

Recap

The Triceratops got going early and took advantage of LCCC on the glass and pushed out to 17 point lead after the first 20 minutes.  Tri-C shot 54% from the field in the opening half to LCCC's 41%.  It was a less than clean game from both squads as both teams combined for 25 turnovers before the break.

Fortunes didn't change for the Commodores in the second half as the Triceratops extended their lead as high as 43 with less than five minutes to play.

Next Up

The Commodores will hit the road for four straight games starting with Clark State Community College on Saturday, December 9 in Springfield, Ohio.  LCCC's next home game will be on December 20, 2023 against Westmoreland County Community College. Prior to the contest against Westmoreland, LCCC will hold its first ever LCCC Men's Basketball Alumni Game at 4 p.m.
