Commodores Fall To Community Christian College

January 15, 2024 - - The Lorain County Community College men's basketball team lost to Community Christian College on Saturday, January 13, 2024, 78-66.

Deonte Benejan (Queens, N.Y./Lorain HS) – 27 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals

Tavion Pride (Cleveland, Ohio/Huron HS) -  15 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assists, 1 steal

Jayden Maxwell (Chicago, Ill./Buchtel CLC) – 12 points, 7 rebounds

Tiyorne Coleman (New York City, N.Y./Bunnell HS) – 11 rebounds

Recap

After a 50 minute delay, the contest started with the Commodores jumping out to an early lead and maintained that advantage throughout the entire first half.  LCCC's largest lead of the half was 9 points with just over 15 minutes remaining.  Deonte Benejan dropped 12 first half points while Tavion Pride scored 8 but got into foul trouble, picking up his third foul late in the half.

Trailing 35-33 at the half, the Lions took the lead with a three pointer in their first possession after getting two offensive rebounds. Both teams traded leads until Community Christian took the lead for good at the 10:26 mark.  The Lions would go on to win, 78-66.

• Saturday's contest was the 14^th game this season that Deonte Benejan scored at least 20 points
• Benejan is second in the NJCAA DIII in scoring per game with 27. 2 and second in total points scored with 408.
