September 24, 2016 - - LCCC Volleyball spent their weekend traveling Central Ohio, taking on Ohio State University Mansfield and Columbus State. In their match Friday night, the Lady Commodores won in 3 games, winning 25-10, 25-18, and 25-18. On Saturday, LCCC took on conference foe Columbus State and loss 3-2 (22-25, 25-21, 21-25, 28-26, 11-15). With this split, LCCC takes their record to 9-7 (1-4).
After a tough match against Sinclair on the 17th, LCCC wanted to get things rolling again; the Lady Commodores were able to do just that as they never let up on OSU Mansfield. LCCC early dominance came from kill leader Kara Keim (10), Kelli Warren (9), and Maryssa Kellick (9). Along with these three, Shannon Reaser chipped in with 37 assist and 6 digs while McKenzie Zauner had 11 digs. As a team the Lady Commodores had 41 kills off of 96 total attacks, 39 assist and 34 digs.
In the team's second match of the weekend, LCCC didn't have as much luck, as Columbus State 5-6 (2-2) was able to outlast the Lady Commodores. As the scores indicate, neither team could get much separation as both teams struggled to make a long run. Maryssa Kellick played big for her team as she had 23 kills on the night while Kelli Warren and Kara Keim contributed 12 apiece. Stat lines were very similar but the difference in the night was the service errors as LCCC had 8 to Columbus States 3. Although McKenzie Zauner (30), Ali Stanziano (17) and Shannon Reaser (12) had 59 of the teams 83 digs, Columbus had 93 which in the end proved to be the difference as they were able to attempt more at the net. After winning the 4th set 28-26, the Lady Commodores just couldn't get over the hump to take the lead. Eventually the Lady Commodores ran out of gas and fell 11-15.
