Recap:
The two previous meetings with the Lakers presented challenges for the Commodores with the first meeting going four sets and the second meeting going five. On Wednesday the Lakers got off to a strong start by jumping out to a 9-5 lead against the Commodores. But that lead slowly dwindled and LCCC busted out an 11-5 run to close out the first set, 25-19.
LCCC kept the momentum going in the second game, using a 6-1 run to force Lakeland into a timeout. LCCC kept the lead throughout the set and forced a second timeout by the Lakers holding 22-18 lead. Out of the timeout, Isabella Beck connected for an ace. After a service error by the Lakers, LCCC held set point and Ava Haddix hooked up Teniya Jenkins for a kill and the win.
LCCC scored the first six points of the third set and Lakeland called timeout. They continued to increase their lead with kills from Nilaysia Todd and Gabriella Habeck. Lakeland called a timeout with the Commodores leading 18-11 and after that, they started to find a rhythm. They used a 13-3 run to take the lead 25-24 and put the Commodores on the ropes. A service error by the Lakers tied things up and both teams traded points until a kill by Todd broke a 27-27 tie. Habeck got a kill on the next volley to end the match.
